Making a Purchase

Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse the different sections of the shop and click on any items you wish to purchase. Clicking on the item will put it into your shopping basket, which can be viewed at any time. At the end of your shopping, your basket will show the items selected and the total cost of your purchases. You may still change any item until you click the Buy button.

Shipping and Handling

UK postage and packing is already included in the price. There is a surcharge for overseas orders. We charge postage at cost price. We use Royal Mail to ship your goods, usually second class. We only include a minimal amount for packing. Apart from when the Staff member is on holiday we undertake to dispatch your order within two weeks as the office is manned on a part-time basis. If you pay for your order by cheque this may take longer as orders are not dispatched until the cheque has cleared through the banking process.

Customs and Excise Duty

For international orders all customs duties and local taxes are the responsibility of the customer. We have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Custom policies vary widely from country to country, so you should contact your local Customs office for further information. Additionally, please note that when ordering from SNWM Online Shop you are considered the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods and may be subject to opening and inspection by Customs authorities.

Tax Charges

There are no additional taxes or charges added to your order.

Credit Card Security

SNWM Shop takes online security and customer confidence very seriously. All card payments are made using PayPal, an independent payment facility which allows credit / debit card transactions to be processed without passing your card details on to us. We do not retain, store or have access to customer credit information.

Shortages

We try to make sure that only items that are in stock or due to delivered to us within a few days are shown on the web site, but should any item ordered on line be out of stock, we will email the buyer and advise regarding the possible time delay. At this stage the buyer may choose whether the rest of the order should be sent or whether the order should be held until the list is complete. We ask for patience in this instance; however, we do endeavour to fulfil all orders as soon as possible.

Returns/Cooling Off Period

Should the purchaser or buyer decide for any reason to return any of the products purchased we request that contact is made with us first. Unless specifically marked as non-returnable, we will refund the full purchase price of the product(s). Postage is not refunded, unless the incorrect item(s) were sent. This refund will be given on safe receipt of the item(s). We allow the purchaser 14 days, after receipt of the order, to inform SNWM Shop of the intention to return any item. This should be done by email at info@snwm.org or phone +44 (0)131 226 7393. Thereafter the product should be posted within 21 days from receipt of the original order.

Damaged Goods and Shortages

If any part or all of your order arrives broken or damaged please contact us before returning any item. This should be reported to us within 7 days of receipt, stating the nature of the fault. We will endeavour to replace any broken or faulty product as soon as possible.

Even over 100 years later we are still adding casualties to the Rolls of Honour in the Memorial. Sometimes as a result of people researching their family history or perhaps their local war memorial. Regular SNWM correspondent Pat Anderson of Forfar sent us a file for consideration for Gunner Alex Cargill, killed in action in 1916.

Shown in the photos is an extract from Very pleased to be part of such a special day at Dunfermline War Memorial Rededication today. HRH The Princess Royal joined us for it. Great to see so many young people from local schools and youth groups there too.

#wewillrememberthem #remembrance #lestweforget #fifecouncilMore exciting things happening yesterday Today marks the 10th anniversary of Merchant Navy Day.

The Rolls of Honour at the Scottish National War Memorial contain the names of 6,378 Scottish seafarers who lost their lives in both world wars. Apprentice James Reid Carr, was one of them. He was only 20 years old when he was killed on 21st September 1940. His ship SS BARON BLYTHSWOOD in convoy HX-72 was hit amidships by one torpedo from U-99. She sank within 40 seconds. The master, 33 crew members and one gunner were lost in the freezing waters south of Iceland.

Today approximately 95% of all goods imported to and from the UK travel by sea. Today is an opportunity to recognise the sacrifices made by merchant seafarers in keeping world trade moving.Fantastic to be a guest at the #edinburghtattoo last night as one of their charity partners. A brilliant performance by the cast and team, thank you for a wonderful evening. Please note the Memorial will be temporarily closed on the morning of Friday 15th August as we commemorate VJDay 80 and will reopen at approx 1330.Truly a pleasure to meet Mary Forbes and her Grandaughter Aimee (pictured) today and show them around the Memorial.

They brought with them a letter from the front line written by Commanding Officer of Mary's husband's Great Uncle - Pte George Fairholm Forbes. George was killed in WWI and he is listed in our Rolls of Honour. The very moving letter from his CO reads:

Exciting day yesterday at the Memorial as we kicked off our film project in conjunction with @morayhouseuoe and Dr Paul Hamilton @_paulhamilton. Huge thanks to Lochgelly High School and @edinburghtrinityseacadets @seacadetsleith for coming along to support us!

The project is supported financially by The MacRobert Trust and The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo @edinburghtattoo and we are extremely grateful to them for their assistance. Please note the Memorial will be temporarily closed on Tuesday 15th July until 1130am.A few images from our Annual Service of Commemoration earlier this month.
