About the Memorial
This area of the website is divided into four sections – History, Virtual Tour, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and Books about the Memorial.
Follow the History link to find out more about the Memorial itself and how towards the end of the First World War a group of individuals had the vision to create a truly Scottish memorial, in Scotland, recording the names of all Scots and displaying Scottish Material.
The Virtual tour link takes you to an inter-active map that allows you view photographs and read descriptions of the various views, memorials and works of art throughout the Memorial.
The FAQ link takes you to a list of questions that are frequently posed. If you are carrying out research into an individual casualty, it may well be that although the material you are searching for cannot be found within the Rolls of Honour, the Scottish National War Memorial website could well point you in the right direction. To assist you in your research, we have listed in this section hyperlinks to other organisations who may be able to help.
The Books about the Memorial section contains a comprehensive list of books about the Memorial and many of the Units, Formations and Services whose memorials are to be found within it.
