Scotland's Merchant Navy Memorial

Jun 10: Historically, Scotland has always had a very strong relationship with the sea. However the sacrifices made by Scotland’s merchant seamen during both World Wars have not always been as recognised as they could have been.

"Flag Ladies" make a welcome return to the SNWM

Annual Commemoration Service

Oct 6: The 95th Annual Service of Commemoration was held at the Scottish National War Memorial on Thursday 6th October.

Visit of the Lord High Commissioner

May 25: The Chief Executive and Trustees of the Memorial were delighted to host The Lord High Commissioner Lord Patrick Hodge and Lady Hodge for a visit on 25th May during General Assembly Week.

Battle of Arras Commemoration 9 April 2017

Apr 9: The 100th anniversary of the commencement of the Battle of Arras, was commemorated at a service in the Memorial on Sunday 9 April 2017.

Memorial Annual Service 2016

Jul 25: The Trustees and Staff of the Memorial were honoured by a visit in July 2016 by HRH The Princess Royal who attended the Memorial's Annual Service.

The Battle of the Somme Vigil - 30 June/1 July 2016

Jul 1: At 0730hrs on 1 July 1916 the whistles blew and the pipes played ordering men to climb out of their trenches and cross "no-mans" land towards the German positions. So began the Battle of the Somme.

Visit to the Memorial by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh - 3 July 2014
